French -dating from the second half of the 19th century.
Signed on the body-tube \"Mon E Hart & A Praz. A. Prazmouski, Sucr. Rue Bonaparte, 1, Paris\".A lacquered-brass compound monocular microscope, with rack and pinion focusing and fine adjustment. The heavy \'U\' form cast iron base couples to the instrument via a hinged friction \'tilt\' arrangement. The black japanned stage incorporates a variable aperture wheel, with adjustable plano-concave mirror below. The instrument is complete with two objectives and a single eyepiece.
The microscope is contained within the original, very high quality, plush-lined mahogany case. The case incorporates a recessed brass lock with central ebony escutcheon - the lock complete with key. The hinged cover incorporates a removable silk lined pad. A small compartment contains specimen slides etc. (the cover to this compartment features a most unusual turned central knop - see image 2).
Case - 11 1/8\" (282mm.) wide
Overall height, instrument in full extension - 12 15/16\" (327mm).

Condition - Very Good. Some deterioration of the lacquer, (consistent with genuine age and usage - not spoiling the appearance in any way). No repairs. Fine natural colour and patina.
