A fine George III Silver Teapot by Emes & Barnard London 1809
A fine George III silver teapot of oval shape with banded scroll and palm engraved decoration. The domed lid is similarly decorated round the edge and is surmounted by a silver topped oval finial. A raised rim is applied around the lid and the whole stands on 4 ball feet. The silver handle has a raised thumb-piece
The teapot is hallmarked for London 1809 and the makers mark is RE over EB for Rebecca Emes and Edward Barnard I. The lid is marked with the lion passant and the date letter. The handle is a very well matched later replacement, London by Henry Holland.
This wonderful teapot has the word \'green\' engraved to the raised rim around the lid (pictured) and a crest of a horses head and neck engraved to the side of the body.
Overall, it is in great condition with a good patina, very minimal bruising and no damage. The finial and spacers have the usual cracking (pictured) that happens over time. The hinge has a little bit of movement. The handle is very secure, no movement. The spout has no spits around the end and pours very well.
Please note the inside has not been cleaned. Length: 28cm
Width: 25cm Weight: 32oz
Capacity: 1 1/2 pints
