A Fine Ornate Antique Georgian Silver Teapot, Exeter, William Woodman, 1827 For Sale
Description: An ornate antique Georgian silver teapot, sitting on four feet, with a foliate/acanthus motif which is repeated on the handle. The lid, body, and handle are all marked. Assay Office: Exeter Year: 1827 Maker:William Woodman Dimensions: 651g, 29cm (handle to spout), 13.5cm (w), 16.5cm (h, to top of handle) Condition(out of 5, where 3 is the average condition expected of an item of its age and function): 2+Good overall, with good marks. The body has perhaps a dozen small dings, one of which shows through to the inside surface. The spout has a touch of asymmetric wear (see above), and there is a small split in the base of the silver handle (see above). The wooden handle on the lid has a small chip to one corner and a small crack to another. The teapot is watertight, but there is a crude repair to the interior: it is about two inches long (see above) but is invisible from the exterior. The tea pot is otherwise in very good condition: the pattern is crisp, the hinge is in good nick, and it sits solidly on a flat surface.
