A Fine Quality Victorian Mahogany Scientific/Medical? Instrument Box c1880:

This fine quality Victorian box i think dates to around 1880 , the box is made of mahogany and has nice grain and colour as seen in the photos, there is a brass escutcheon plate and there is a lock but no key , inside the box has been paper lined in more recent times , i am not certain exactly of the use of the box but think it was for a scientific or medical instrument perhaps , the box measures 10.5 x 5 x 2 inches and in good condition just a couple of small knocks and general wear and tear with age and use
