A Fine Rococo Silver Victorian Teapot London 1876
A very good quality Victorian silver teapot of circular form. The cast spout with Bacchus mask and eagle spout. The cast C-scroll handle with ornate thumbpiece. The domed lid with cast finial of a bird of prey amidst leaves. The body and lid decorated with floral repousse work. A vacant cartouche to each side of the body. The whole standing on a pierced four-footed base.
Marked to the base, lid, handle, finial and retaining nut for London 1876 by Martin and Hall.This is a superb example of Victorian rococo silversmithing. Beautifully decorated throughout with good gauge silver and no damage or repair. Very minor signs of use. The inside a little tea-stained. All marks clear and well-struck.
