Description: Offered is a good graphoscope / stereoviewer made of French polished mahogany. The viewer is unsigned but similar in construction to those produced by the firm of negretti & Zambra in around 1880.
The graphoscope when not being used can be folded down flat. At the back is the fold up support for the photo/image to be viewed. This support has a delicately cut fretwork design above a ground glass screen with sprung brass arms for holding the photos. At the front of the viewer is a pair of lenses for viewing stereo cards. These lenses can be folded down and the large magnifying lens folded up from within the base. The large lens is in the centre of a Polished mahogany board which slides up and down on to brass arms. The viewer can be inclined to the required viewing angle with a support built into the base.
Condition: Cosmetically the viewer is very good retaining most of its original French polished finish. There is one small bone knob used for sliding the photo support into focus missing its top. Mechanically all the moving parts and hinges are all good. Optically the lenses are all good
Width 16in 42cm

We have now been shipping items all over the world for a number of years and in that time we have come to expect the worst that the postal services can put our packages through. For that reason we always double box our items, we never send instruments packed in their wooden box; we always try to dismantle items before packing and shipping to reduce the likelyhood of damage; we pack each item according to its individual requirements.
We use a number of shippers. For inland (UK) we always use Parcelforce24 or special delivery. For Europe and the rest of the world we use FedEx. We have found FedEx to be a fast and reliable service that can be accurately tracked every step of its journey on the FedEx website.
We accept the following methods of payment; Paypal, Bank Transfer, Cheque (please note items will not be dispatched until cheques clear) Cash on pick up.
