Description:A large Russian gilded 84 standard silver salt throne, Nikolai Alekseev, Moscow, 1884. Of traditional form with hinged seat and bracket feet, decorated in the taste of the Russian Revival style (Russkii stil), the back shaped and pierced in imitation of peasant woodwork and vernacular architecture, the top of the hinged lid of the seat engraved with a Cyrillic inscription translating as:Without salt, without bread, it's only half a meal; gilt interior.Weight 199.5 grams.
Dimensions: 5 in. h x 4 1/2 in. w (12.7 x 11.4 cm).
Condition: Great condition; only very small amount of wear.
