This pair of delicate porcelain candle holders is probably among the finest of decorative illuminating accessories of 18th- early 19th century Europe. Conical in form, the porcelain holders are fitted with gilt brass cups and are raised on an ornately designed base. The ormolu mounts and brass banding show French Empire style influences and the prevailing thematic motifs of scrolls, foliage, rosettes, festoons, and tassels are Rococo to Neoclassical. Each piece is 6 3/4\" tall with a width of app 3 1/4\" from handle to handle. Both pieces are in excellent condition. There appears to be light indentation on one of the metal rims. These pieces are absolutely gorgeous and will be great on a sumptuous holiday tray or table. Buyer is advised to research all information provided and to examine photos closely. Items have been lightly dusted, no polishing done.
