Ottoman Islamic woodcraft -dating from thefirst half of the 20th century.
Hand carved and finished from two sections of rich brown hard-wood timber. Both stands, (a near pair), are constructed in the manner of a folding traditionalQur\'an stand - easel form with integral \'trough\' above the hinge point.
The display area is slotted at the mid point allowing a page of text or verse to be inserted - viewed through the rectangular aperture. The frame face is inlaid with sections of scrolling white metal wire.
The shaped supporting sections are finished with geometrically carved decoration.Overall height, (as apex form) - 10 7/8\" (273mm).
Aperture size - 2 1/4\" (57mm) x 3 3/4\" (95mm)
Condition - Very Good. No cracks, no repairs. Natural colour and patina.
