RARE ANTIQUE FRENCH SKETCH PAD 23 SKETCHES FROM NOBLE FAMILY G.DE GAUJAC 1894/95

This is an incredible find; it is a 19th centuryFrench sketch book belonging to G. de Gaujac.

The sketch book contains 23 pencil sketches dating from 1894& 1895. 7 of them have been paintedwith watercolours. They deal mainly witharchitectural and still life forms. Thereare also portraits but taken from sculptures, I believe. There is one beautiful sketch of a young ladyand her small dog.

Many of the pages at the back of the book are blank. The cover is in linen fabric and is time wornand grubby but nothing unexpected for an item of this age. The name G. de Gaujac is written on thefront. I am pretty sure from the research that I have carried out that the name G de Gaujac is from a noble family of French Barons, from the area around Toulouse / Castres. On the inside the spine of thecover has come away from the book – please see photographs.

The sketch book measures 35cms by 26cms or 13¾” by 10¼”
