A RARE MID-19TH C ROSE MANDARIN CHINESE EXPORT PORCELAIN TEA POT:
$600.00

This is a variant of the Rose medallion (wheel) polychrome enameled decoration: the body of this tea pot is decorated with a band of (people) ladies in traditional Chinese apparel (Rose Mandarin); over the wide shoulder is (Rose Canton) a band of birds, flowers and butterflies; the same theme is repeated on the domed lid at a smaller scale. In form, this pot is similar to the English derby. What is unique about this piece is the lid which has an unusually deep flange; this enables easy and safe pouring. This pot is thick and heavy. It is in very good condition, no chips cracks or repairs. The pot is 11\" from spout tip to the handle arch; it is 8\" high; 24\" around the shoulder or 8\" wide. This item has been in the same family for 3 generations.
