A true and very rare Museum piece!!!

An antique authentic German Cologne stoneware Bellarmine Bartmannskrug, Stein decorated with a superb detailed face, see extra photo.

The text on this primitive early bellarmine reads: WAN GOT VEILT SO IST MEIN ZEILT, this old German text translates as: When God decides ist it is my time to go.

This text is somewhat more rare to find on text bellarmines. The text is put on 2 times, the first section is not totally complete, ( It was made this way )

The second, identical, line is complete, See photo.

Especially in Japan these jugs are very famous and known under the name \'Higedokkuri\'.

Similar jugs can be found in the mayor museums. -- Rijksmuseum, Cologne Museum, V&A, British Museum etc.--

The date of this jug is circa 1550 - 1580, Guaranteed.

The size =20 cm =7.87 Inches.

CONDITION:NO breaks!!! / NO, hairline, cracks. There is some restoration to the base and there is a shallow, now restored, chip at the top of the jug, SEE extra photos !!!

( The crack, visible on the photo of the base is NOT caused by damage but is a firering crack / this happened in the kiln, the base was \'pushed\' in. )

The jug is fully inspected with the point of a sharp scapel as nowadays invisible professional restorations cannot be detected anymore by a blacklight or the \'naked eye\'.
