CONDITION: IT’S INSUPERB CONDITION THROUGHOUT
THIS IS AN EDWARDIAN ANTIQUE LOCKET OF VERY GENEROUS SIZE. A REAL ‘EYE CATCHING’ ITEM OF ANTIQUE JEWELLERY (See 5 Pence set in inset picture for comparisons).
The central area is convex in shape and has vertical line patterning with a vacant cartouche area at the base. The boarder is raised \'embossed\' with a triangle and bar design. The locket has an impressive scroll patterned top with a gold top holding ring with diameter of 6mm. The reverse is more or less the same except no cartouche but here are the gold marks \'9ct BKS & FT\' and maker\'s mark \'A&C\'
This locket is that lovely mellow rose gold only found in jewellery items from the years bordering the turning of the last century (not today\'sbrash pinkrose gold). We have carefully ‘check tested’ the piece and confirm it is \'9ct Gold Back & Front\' category.
(9ct Back & Front is a locket category where the front and back panels are of solid 9ct gold, and check tested here, the internal frame and rims are not gold. This method of construction was used primarily to achieve greater strength and durability of the locket).
Yes, this locket is in excellent condition, no dints, indents, bumps or scratches, indeed no blemishes at all. Crisp engraving with a lovely polished finish throughout.

Inside the locket has watered silk insets and Perspex covers, there are retaining rims to both sides. The locket is firm to the press being made of a thick gage of gold, there is no buckle effect at all when pressed.
