A SUPERB FLORAL ENGRAVED VERY LARGE ROUND LOCKET IN 9CT ROSE GOLD CIRCA 1902

THIS IS AEDWARDIAN PERIODANTIQUE LOCKET OF A VERYGENEROUSSIZE, IDEAL TO WEAR EACH AND EVERY DAY AND / OR SPECIAL ENOUGH TO KEEP JUST FOR THOSE CHERISHED OCCASIONS. A MOST‘EYE CATCHING’ ITEM OF ANTIQUE JEWELLERY (See 5 Penceand U.S. 25 centsin inset picture for size comparisons).

This\'round\' locket has to the front a lovely foliate and flower engraving with a vacant shield shaped cartouche to the centre. This central design is boardered with geometric block pattening, the locket has plain surfaced sloping away edges. The top of the locket has a scroll work pattern and a gold top holding ring with an inner diameter of 5.0 mm.

The reverse has leaf pattern engraving to the centre, with block patterned boarder. No cartouche but the gold markings at the top for \'9ct Back & Front\'. We have carefully ‘check tested’ the piece and confirm it is \'9ct Gold Back & Front\' category. This locket is lovely mellow rose gold colour often found in jewellery items from the years bordering the turning of the 19th/20th century

(9ct Back & Front is a locket category where the front and back panels are of solid 9ct gold, and check tested here, the internal frame and holding rims are not gold. This method of construction was used primarily to achieve greater strength and durability of the locket).

Yes, this locket is in excellent condition, no dints, indents, bumps or scratches, indeed no blemishes at all, crisp engraving with lovely polished surfaces throughout.

(Please note that any markings onthis locket are due to reflection rather than a blemish ordiscolouration of the gold surface).

Inside the locket has watered silk insets and Perspex covers, there are pullout retaining rims to both sides.The locket is firm to the press, there is no buckle effect at all when pressed.
