A Superb Large Georgian Silver Coffee Pot London 1758.
A very good quality large George II solid silver coffee pot of circular baluster form. The body with embossed floral and foliate decoration. Two shaped cartouches, one with a crest of a gryphon and a lion, the other vacant. The domed lid with gadrooned border, engraved band of flowers and bud finial. The swan neck spout with cast scrolling decoration. The wooden C-scroll handle with thumbpiece.
Marked for London 1758 by George Methuen. The lid marked with the lion passant.
This is a very good heavy gauge silver pot of excellent workmanship in original condition. No repairs and no damage. The hinge is good and the pot stands true on a flat surface.
