CONDITION: IT’S IN SUPERB CONDITION THROUGHOUT
THIS IS AN ANTIQUE \'GEORGE V\' LOCKET OF POPULAR PREPORTIONS, AN ‘EYE CATCHING’ ITEM OF ANTIQUE JEWELLERY (See 5 Pence set in inset picture for size comparisons).
The front of this OVAL locket has pretty leaf foliate engraving with a vacant random shaped cartouche to the centre. The reverse has leaf and flower engraving throughout apart for full hallmarks for Birmingham 1915 to the base. There\'s a gold top holding ring with an inner diameter of 4.8mm.
This locket is that lovely mellow rose gold found in jewellery items from the years bordering the turning of the 19th/20th century (not today\'s brash pink rose gold).
Fully hallmarked for 9 carat gold, (9.375 to denote gold standard, Anchor logo for Birmingham assay office and low case date letter ‘q’ for 1915 date letter.) Maker’s mark ‘M.W&S’
THIS IS A FULLY AUTHENTICATED DATED PIECE OF JEWELLERY, A GOLD LOCKET OF 100 YEARS OLD AND IN SUPER CONDITION TOO!!
Yes, this locket is in excellent condition, no dints,bumps or scratches, indeed no blemishes at all. All engraving is crisp as new.
(Please note that any markings on this locket are due to reflection rather than a blemish or discolouration of the gold surface).
It will offer the new owner many more years safeguarding your most treasured keepsake or photographs. The hinge is sound and firm, the locket opens easily and shuts well with a reassuring “click”. Inside the locket has watered silk insets and Perspex covers, there is a retaining rim to the right hand side. The locket is firm to the press, there is no buckle effect at all when pressed.
