A Very Fine Antique Pair Japanese Satsuma Meiji Period Large Hexagonal Vases TOP:
$1199.00
Description
Here we have a stunning quality pair of japanese satsuma vases, made to be matched with mirrored themes. These gorgeous pieces have an hexagonal body showing a twofold decoration, 3 panels painted with figural scenarios, the other 3 decorated with natural landscapes and water streams. Heavy gilding is used to highlight an extremely rich colour pallette, predominantly in shades of blue and purple; still we\'d like to draw your attention to the quality of the brush strokes, which denote a very high standard. Both vases signed underneath in gilt over a dark red seal and bellow the shimazu family mon, possiblysatsuma-yaki.
Japan, late Meiji Period, probably c. 1895-1900.
Condition
These vases show very little wear and are in near mint condition. There are no issues such as chips, cracks, hairlines or restoration.
