A Very Fine George III Silver Coffee Pot London 1768
Very good George III Silver coffee pot of pear shape or baluster form. Profusely decorated with flowers and leaves on a mat ground with shaped swan neck spout . The domed lid with a band of floral chasing and gadrooned decoration topped with beaded acorn finial. Original fruitwood double C scroll handle. A leaf- wreathed cartouche to each side. One depicting a dragon or mythical bird above a coronet. The other depicting three small stags within a shield beneath a large stags head.
Marked to the body for London 1768 by Thomas Wallis. The lid is marked with the maker\'s mark and a lion passant. Engraved to the base of the pot underneath with the initials TBF.
The pot is in superb original condition with no damage. The handle is without any chips or cracks. Firm in its silver mountings with the original pins. The pot stands true on the table top and is of wonderful colour and patina. The floral chasing and the highly unusual finial mark this out as an exceptionally fine pot.
