A VERY FINESILVER FRUIT or BREADBASKET,SHEFFIELD 1853 by ROBERTS & HALL
A very fine solid silver swing-handledfruit or bread basket of oval, foliate form with a shaped handle standing on apedestal foot.
The body is decorated with raised floraldecorations around the rim with foliate piercings to the whole and a floralband engraved to the inside of the bowl. The whole has raised beadingdecoration throughout and the shaped, pierced handle is similarly decorated.The hinge is very good with floral engraving to the pin ends.
Fully marked inside the basket near thecentre and to the handle with well struck, clear marks for sheffield 1853 byRoberts & Hall. Both the handle and basket are identically marked.
Heavy gauge with a wonderful patina andvery little rubbing to the decoration.
No repairs, dents or splits.
Overall in excellent condition and the attention to detail is wonderful.
