A rare early 20thC rake iron hickory shafted “The Major Browns patent\" golf club:

This is a rare and genuine example of a Brown’s patent rakeiron, “The Major”, the rake iron was invented for playing in long grass toattempt to stop the minor turning of the club as it passed through the grass asit was swung, to better strike the ball in the desired location. The club hashad an old repair to the shaft. The face of the club still has its originalfeathering. Please see all photos.

Approximate total length: 96cm/36’.
Thecondition is very good, unfortunately there is an old repair to the shaft andthe lacquer is also rubbed and the rubber grip is also missing, (I couldreplace the rubber grip or the shaft, but I believe as an antique it should beleft in its original condition, this is how I would like to sell it. It is upto the buyer, if you would like to replace anything upon arrival), the face ofthe club still has its original feathering (I could scrub the rake iron so thefeather is more pronounced, but I do not want to damage it and I would like tosell it in the condition I received it).
