Item for Sale: Antique Northern Thailand Worshiping Monk Statue, 15th to 16th Century

This appealing statue comes from Northern Thailand and is from an estate collected in the early to mid 20th century. We will be listing 5 pieces from this estate, so please look at our other items.

Beautifully carved, it has a serene and appealing face. Interestingly, the praying hands are offset from the face a bit, so from the front the hands do not obscure the face. The praying figure is resting on a base that looks like a lotus flower, with the petals inset with pieces of colored glass, a very attractive feature.

It is in good shape with some loss to the gilt, and there are some small cracks in the inset glass pieces, although none of the inset pieces is missing, they are all still present. It will display very well. Dimensions: height of statue: 7 and 1/2 inches, with base, 10 and 1/2 inches. Width is 3 inches and depth is 3 Store
