Jacquie Stevens was born in 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska. This asymmetrical pot, indicative of the traditional hand-coiled method, was skillfully created by one of the Southwest\'s most prolific and sought after potters...ever!She was educated at the University of Colorado in Denver majoring in anthropology. In 1975 she arrived in Santa Fe to enroll in the Institute of American Indian with a particular interest in the museum program there. Otellie Loloma, the well known Hopi potter and teacher became Jacquie\'s mentor.Her mentorship became the stepping stone to a creative spirit that was already in her and her career was established.Many collect her work and her meticulous, labor intensive designs, mindful of her tribal experiences are now legendary.In an article, published by Artists of the American West in February 2003, a pot, measuring 16\" x 14\" is priced at $2400.00. THIS IS 14.7/8 TALL BY 12\" ACROSS AND 39\" IN CIRCUMFERENCE. (AROUND THE WIDEST PART OF THE POTTERY). The condition of this piece is in very, very good condition. I inspected this very carefully after a client questioned the condition and it is just really well cared for. It has been in my possession almost 30 years and it has been cleaned with a feather duster and it sits in a locked vitrina, away from dust. No one touches my pottery but me. I always wear cotton gloves, so the wear and tear is very minimal. We have a smoke-free home as well.
