Up for sale is a Truly Amazing and Very Rare c1900 Arts & Crafts Solid Copper Hand Wrought Roast Carving and Serving Platter Tray. The Tray is one of the most incredible examples of earlier 1900’s copper work I have personally seen. I am sure that I have seen a similar tray to this in a book, but this is the only example like this I have ever seen in person. I cannot see any markings on the tray, but I believe if researched the tray could be attributed to a certain maker. The estate said they were told the Tray was made by Gorham, but not being marked I cannot say for sure. I do know Gorham did commission some amazing copper examples at some of the smaller studio’s mainly in Chicago at the time some which were not marked, so it is well worth looking into. The Tray has the Most Amazing and Finely Detailed Horned Bull Head handles to either side, Truly Incredibly Quality. The hole tray itself is hand wrought and made of Thick and Solid Copper. The Tray also has what appears to be its original solid oak cutting board with a beautiful old patina. The Tray is in great untouched original condition, it could use a light cleaning but I never like to touch anything like this to disturb any of its original and beautifully consistent old patina. The tray has no cracks, holes, repairs, or any other damage, about as nice of original condition as one could ever hope to find such a piece. The Tray is a Large and Impressive size made to carved and hold a large size roast measuring 24-1/2 inches long across the headsby 15 inches wide or the Oak board itself measures 18 inches long by 13-1/4 wide.
