Listed this week is an excellent selection ofSterling and Continental Solid Silver. Up for sale with is a superb quality later 19th Century French Gold Gilded Sterling Silver Chocolate or Coffee Cup and Saucer with matching Spoon. The set just exudes quality and is fully marked for the fine Period Silversmith Henri Freres & Co. of Paris. The set is also marked for the important Paris retailer Maison Boin-Taburet. TheCupand Spoon bothfeature very fine and crisply detailed French period patterns throughout. The Cup also retains the original porcelain liner which featuresa very rich Gold Gilded interior and dark cobalt Blue enameled exterior. The Set is lavishly Gold Gilded and is so muchmore beautifulthan my photos show. The Stt is inexcellent condition for the age with only minor signs of use and age, no dents, chips, cracks or repairs. TheSet is a very nice size for modernuse or display with theCupmeasuring3 inches tall by3-1/2 inches long across the handle, the Saucer is5-1/2 inches across and the Spoon measures5-3/4 inches long. I could not remove the Liner but the Saucer and Spoon have a quality weight of159 grams and the whole set together weighs305 grams. The Silveris actually 950 Grade Solid Silver, finer than Sterling Grade and the best one could hope to find. I love thisSet and I am sure the new owner will too !
