Framed Signed Ships Paper / Passport dated 11 October 1833. Pencil drawing of Andrew Jackson in top left corner, scalloped mat top center depicting a drawing of a ship and lighthouse with Presidential seal fully intact. Signed by President Andrew Jackson, Secretary of State Edward Livingston and Collector J.H. Crawford and issued to Joseph Fitch of the ship Superior of New London, Connecticut. Wood Frame dark brown in color with some nics and scuffs. Frame measures roughly 22-1/4" Length X 18" Wide. The glass of the framing has a matte finish with a tiny textured look (not sure of the technical term for this.)
I am not a historical document expert but I had this appraised by a local appraiser who is trained in historical document appraisal. I am offering this document significantly below appraisal value. Please review the pictures closely. I have attempted to highlight any defects I can see but buyer is responsible for verifying the item is in a condition acceptable to him/her prior to purchase. There are visible fold creases in roughly 2 sections of the document. The seal appears to be in excellent condition to me, but some of the end points are curling. The hand written ink items are faded however the Andrew Jackson signature and Edward Livingston signature are still quite visible. The frame has nicks and scuffs. The mat has some curl at the pencil drawing of Andrew Jackson and the drawing itself has a roll or curling to it when viewed at an extreme angle. The mat also has a roughly 3/4" stain in the very bottom right hand corner. I have provided the text of the document in the description but it is only what I can decipher. I do not guarantee the correct spelling or context. Again - please review the pictures closely before determining to purchase.
