60 yr old Anri Kuolt 40th Anniversary Special Edition Hand Carved 3-1/4” Nativity Set with Crèche

This vintage hand carved 3-1/4” Kuolt nativity set is 60+ years old, having been made in the South Tyrol region of Italy by Anri as a special edition release in 1952 to celebrate this wood carving consortium’s 40th anniversary (1912-1952), and includes the foil Anri label attesting to this fact(please see photo).

All Anri woodcarvings are of the highest possible quality, hand carved and hand painted by the finest master craftsmen, and are highly prized by serious collectors the world over. Anri wood carvings are renowned for their crisp, intricately hand carved detail, and the grace and beauty of their form, and are second to none.

The crèche (stable) is 8-1/2” tall by 15-1/2” wide, and is also hand crafted from wood with incredible attention to architectural detailing, right down to the pieces of firewood piled at the base of a side outer wall. The back window looks out onto a hand painted “windowscape” – a scenic landscape depicting a snow-covered tree amidst a rural countryside. The various levels of roofing are carved and painted to imitate a thick covering of snow. The head of a cherub (angel) holding a banner on which is written the Latin phrase proclaiming “Gloria In Excelsis Deo” (= “Glory To God in the Highest”) is attached to center of the front main gable via a dowel-in-hole joining, tightly fitted so as to be secure, but without glue – enabling it to be [carefully] removed and reinserted as desired.

The set includes the following hand carved and hand painted wooden figures, all of which are stamped in bluish-purple ink with the words “Made In Italy”:

· Cherub (attached to crèche; removable);

· Mary;

· Baby Jesus in Crib;

· Joseph (3-1/4” tall, the height of “Joseph” is the standard measurement by which the size of any given Anri nativity set is determined, and to which all other figures are proportioned);

· Wise Man (King) #1;

· Wise Man (King) #2;

· Wise Man (King) #3;

· Shepherd with sheep;

· Ox.

All pieces of this nativity set, including crèche (stable), are in pristine condition, with no scratches, chips or other defects detected, and are as seen on photos.
