Featuredis a fabulous antique victorian repoussewomen\'s walking stick or cane. This piece is probably from the 1800\'s and due to the size is most likely a woman\'s. I have taken it to our local jeweler\'s for appraisal and review. They were very excited to see it due to the excellent condition and the workmanship on the head.
The cane is wooden and very slim. It has a tip on it that appears to be brass. The cane is in fantastic condition with no breaks, repairs or splintered areas. The head is very ornate as you can see in the photos.There are leaves, flowers, etc all over the head. There is also a blank place for an inscription, which appears to never have been used. The head curls under a bit and has a bit of a protrusion on the other end. The jeweler stated the head is made of what is called \"rolled gold\" and is probably 12 or 14K. (Gold filled, also known as rolled gold or rolled gold plate is composed of a solid layer of gold bonded with heat and pressure to a base metal such as brass. Some high quality gold filled pieces have the same appearance as 14K (58%) gold.)There is some thin areas to the gold, which they said is typical of utilitarian items of this age.
The cane measures 35\" long. The head measures 3\" long.
