ANTIQUE SMALL GENTLEMAN\'S POCKET WALLET / LARGE BILLS ~ DOCUMENT HOLDER

This is a small Antique 19th Gentleman\'s dark burgundy (faded) leather pocket wallet for coins and larger sized U.S. Bills used before 1929 and / or important documents. Closed, this small wallet is 4 1/2\" wide x 2 5/8\" tall x about 5/8\" thick. The leather has a fine line pattern decoration. Inside, the top part has 4 accordian style yellow linen lined folding pockets, plus an additional outside yellow linen lined pocket with a flap marked U.S. CURRENCY\"; all were intended for coins. The bottom has a fold out pouch with a closure tab embossed BILLS, intended for the oversize U.S. bills used before 1929. The bright yellow linen lined inside the BILLS compartment opens up to form a bottom that is 4 1/2\" wide x 6 1/2\" long, with 3 equal sections that fold outward in 2 folds. The 2 side flaps fold inward towards the center 3 fold piece, and create two 1 1/2\" wide 1/2 pockets that can hold today\'s standard size bills are 6 1/8\" long. So with today\'s standard size bills, the 2 pouches created by the side flaps hold bills would overlap 1\" in the middle.

This wallet was intended for carrying the large sized paper bills used at the time, or for other important documents. Overall in good condition for it\'s age; and as to be expected, a few light scuffs, and fading of the outside color; the inside black leather and bright yellow linen is excellent to near mint condition. The outside could use some liquid burgundy shoe polish to restore the color or leather dressing if desired; however, I have left it in original, untouched, as found condition. This can still be used today. Weight is 2 ounces.
