Superb, very rare, very largeParian figure group of “Union Refugees” one of the Civil War Groups by theAmerican sculptor John Rogers.
The figure stands 17.75 inches high on a base 10inchesacross.
The modelling is excellent, the detail is veryfine, the Parian of the highest quality.
In good condition with just some professionalrestoration to the arm and rifle, a filled in firing flaw where the head of thelady rests her head on the chest of the man. There is a filled in firing flawunder the base and a small flat piece glued back in place on the hem of the lady.
Unmarked but the quality of the Parian and themodelling more than suggests Robinson and Leadbeater.

The front is impressed “UNION REFUGEES” and onthe rear “Patented April 19 1861”

A really lovely, very rare figure it displaysvery well indeed.
