Description

Welcome to my sale - Up for your consideration, fresh from the estate of a unique Asian collection is this beautiful scholar\'s seal/paste box. The 19th century, Meiji period box is decorated in a floral butterfly motif on a glittering goldstone background. Inside of both pieces is covered in an interesting green enamel. The decoration is consistent with Japanese works, however there are no marks. It is attributed to the 19th century, Meiji period but could be older. There is heavy wear on the bare metal bottom and pitting in the enamel, an indication of age, exact age is unknown.

CONDITION - The box is in fine, antique, pre-owned condition! Some normal age/use, no dings or dents, a few areas of enamel damage worst is just above butterfly head, pitting indicative of age, some cracking on inside, darkening of wire work and mounts - as with all of my estate items, I have not cleaned or polished it.

SIZE - The box stands approximately 1 1/4\" tall, 2 3/8\" across.
