Fine 19thC GEORGIAN SOLID SILVER EXCEPTIONAL WINE COOLERS, B SMITH c.1825

Antique 19th Century pair of exceptional George IV solid silver wine coolers and liners, each exceptionally heavy and crisp, decorative and ornamental, tapering lobed body chased with shaped circular border and foot with spume rims, applied with cast flowers and leaves, cast foliage handles with flowers.The pair comes with the original solid silver liners, engraved with an ermine family crest. Each body is also engraved with a family crest, Motto \"Sine Labe Nota\" (\"Known Without Dishonour\", or\"Distinction Without a Stain\"). Both the crest and the armorial belonging to the Crawford family, probably the Crawfords-Barclay of Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, Scotland.

Both the coolers and the liners are Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1825 (k), Maker\'s mark BS (Benjamin Smith III). Benjamin Smith III apprenticed under his father Benjamin Smith II, important silversmith working in the same period and at the same level of Paul Storr, producing various monumental pieces now held in the Royal Collection and Victoria & Albert Museum.
