Description
Antique 19th Century Imperial Russian solid silver, rectangular cigarette case with rounded corners, both sided decorated with the traditional Russian polychrome cloisonne enamel, particularly intricate design featuring foliage within lotus fan borders, the inside is richly gilded. Both sides are Hallmarked Russian silver 84, Moscow, year 1880's, Maker's mark partially rubbed for Nikolai Strulev, great silversmith active in Moscow in the 1880's, specialized in enamelled items (please follow this link to a cigarette box by the same silversmith featuring a similar design sold in Sotheby's).
Condition
In Great Condition - very small enamel loss to the corners, as to be expected.
