Antique 19th Century Indian Kutch (Cutch), Bhuj, Gujarat region hand crafted solid silver Cream Jug. Kutch silver is distinguished by its closely worked, foliate, repoussé design. The repoussé work was accomplished by creating the form of the piece, filling it with a resin compound, then working the silver from the outside, hammering it into the resin. When the work was complete, the piece was heated until the resin filling melted out, leaving the now-empty piece beautifully decorated, Hallmarked with unknown marks, made around 1880's, The silver has been acid tested and has shows to be 800-900 standard.
