Antique 19th Century extremely rare Georgian tested 18 Carat Gold mounted Agate Vinaigrette, of oblong rectangular form, both the cover and base inset with agate, the sides engraved with leafy scroll-work, the hinged grille profusely pierced and engraved with a cornucopia surrounded by foliage. The inside is later engraved "J.F. Montgomery, his mother's gift 1860". As often the case for such pieces the gold is unmarked, but tested shows a 18 carat (750 gold purity). The piece probably dates to around the 1820-30.
