We are pleased to offer this EXCEPTIONAL antique (late 19thC) telephone cabinet/stand. This is a beautiful, early telephone cabinet with extraordinary and rare design. The standis wood andfeatures a domed top. Itis adornedwithornate moldings and deeply carved/incised patterns. The domedsectionhoused the telephone. Ithas afunctioning door with a dimensional,winged mermaidapplique. The mermaidhas flowing, delicately scrolled enhancements for further interest. The domed section has a hole in the back for wiring/cords.Itsits (is permanently attached) on a table/stand. This sectionfeatures turned legs. There is a drawer for pens, paper, phone books, etc., in this section. The drawer front has a beautifully carved acanthus design.It retains the ornate bronze/brass pullwhich matches the pull on the cabinet door. The cabinet also retains the originalpetite chair. The chair has a gorgeous, skeletonkeyhole back accent andfeatures the same leg and stretcher design as the stand. The seat is covered in very old (maybe original) velvet fabric. The color is a beautiful cinnamon orange. The chair is a unique size and made for the cabinet. It is larger than a child\'s chair, but a very petite \"adult\" chair.

The entire piece has, at some point (not by us) been beautifully painted ina white, crackled finish. Gold paint has been used as an accent in the crevices of the wood patterns and as a background for the mermaid. The interior of the cabinet is red and I do not know if thatwas the original coloror if the piece has been painted more than once. This is an elegant piece that, no doubt, graced the hallway or bedroom of a very upscale home as it is more elaborate than most of the phone cabinets of this period.It is in very good antique condition. It issturdy butold and, therefore, somewhat fragile. It is a fabulous accent piece with incredible charm and character.

The stand measures 51 and 1/8\" tall.It is 17\" wide at thewidest and 14\" deep at the deepest measurement. The domed cabinet interior is 11.5\" wide, 18\" tall and 9\" deep. The drawer interior is 12\" wide, 10.75\" deep and 3.5\" tall. The CHAIR measures 30.5\" tall, 12\" wide and 13\" deep. Ithas a seat height of 17.5\".

Because of the fragile nature of this piece, we will ship via GREYHOUND at a cost of $150.00. Greyhound is the safest mode of transport as they do not put their packages on conveyor belts or forklifts and they hand carry all packages.We will provide insurance for you. You will need to pick up at the station or, you can call Greyhound to schedule a courier delivery (for an additional fee).
