    Antique 20th Century exceptionally rare and magnificent Edwardian Solid Silver monumental centrepiece on a stand, formed as Saint George horseback slaying the dragon, on a rocky circular base.This is one of the most impressive and outstanding solid silver monumentalcentrepieces by Garrard, 5560 grams of solid silver, 48cm tall.The ebonized base is mounted with a shield engraved with the inscription: \"THIS TROPHY IS A REMINDER THAT EFFICIENCY MEANS SELF-MASTERY AND IS A SYMBOL OF THE UNENDING STRUGGLE BETWEEN THE HERO AND THE BEAST IN MAN\".

    The impressive centrepiece is a trophy commissioned by the prestigious Felsted School for an educational efficiency league (see: D. J. Armour, \"Felsted Preparatory School: The first 100 years\", 1995, p.22).Each part is Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1907(m), Maker\'s mark \"SG\" for Sebastian Henry Garrard, very important Royal silversmith, jeweller and supplier, he provided the Prince of Wales\'s coronet - pleasefollow this link).The base is further stamped \"R&S GARRARD & CO, HAYMARKET, ExcellentCondition - No damage, just general wear.
