Antique early 20th Century rare solid silver German fox-headed stirrup cup, finely cast and hand engraved with scenes from a fox hunt.Stirrup cups were originally used for making toasts at hunts and areso called for the practise ofhaving one final drink " for the road " when one foot was already in the stirrup.The cup also stands upright when rested on the ears and nose.Hallmarked with German Hanau Makers lion mark (L. Neresheimer & Co) and English Silver import marks, London, 925, year 1930 (p), Importers mark ABD (Adolph Barsach Davis).
