Description

Antique early 20th Century German Hanau Solid Silver pair of figures, each modelled as a knight in full suits of armour, carved faux Ivory face beneath a hinged visor, one sporting a sword and the other an axe, both holding a shield applied with armorials. The knights stand on a foliate embellished pedestal base, the casting is extremely detailed and magnificent - one of the armours is all decorated with animals in relief and the shoulders are set with dragons. The piece doesn\'t bear visible maker\'s marks but is typically German Hanau, probably by Neresheimer & Sohne. Each base is also fully Hallmarked with English silver import marks (925 Standard), London, year 1902 (g), Importer\'s mark T.H (Theodor Hartmann, importer of German silver).
