Description

Antique 20th Century IndianSolid Silver vase, square baluster form in the antique Chinese style, each side beautifully decorated with a hand embossed and cast applied decoration featuring hunt scenes, with two horsemen killing a lion, a hunter riding an elephant and chasing a tiger, and a man fighting a monkey. The neck is applied with two cast lion masks with hanging rings. The piece is not hallmarked, as often for Indian silver, but has been acid tested and shows a 800+ silver purity. The vase probably dates in the early 20th Century, and the hunt-related scenes are typical of the Lucknow silver.
