FINE VICTORIAN BRASS PHOTO FRAME WITH SLIDING BACK
FANCY GILT BRASS PHOTO FRAMEWith a patent date on bottom lower back edgeof SEPT. 14, 1897. Holds a photograph ofmaximum size 5 and 7/8 inches tall by 3 incheswide. There is NO GLASS in the frame.A largefleur-de-lis on each corner enhances theArt Nouveau scroll work and flower design.Over the years most of the gilt wash hasbeen polished off the frame. Minor dents atsome of the high points in the brass if youlook for them with a magnifier, otherwise thisframe is in very good condition.

The back is tin (a magnet sticks to it) with amirror-like silvered plating. The wire standdevice is made of brass. A hinge back dooratthe top opens to insert picture, glass, andthe back stand. If you use a thin pieceof glass, not too heavy, the frame would alsostand nice horizontally. Used vertically it isexcellent for a standing figure.
