ANTIQUE BRASS STANDING TRIVET ~ EARLY ~ c. 1825:

This is a very nice antique cast brass footman style standing trivet for the collector. It measures 10 1/8” in length; is 6 1/8” wide; and is 3 3/4” high and weighs approx. 2 1/4 lbs. It is in good + original condition with no repairs. The legs need tightened. We have never done it because we’ve never wanted to disturb the original round nuts (see photo) that secure the legs to the top. Not having the right tool, we left them undisturbed. The piece also has modest sag to the center from use over the generations. This is not uncommon.

The trivet has a pierced design top with legs that terminate in “hairy paw” feet similar to that seen on furniture of the period. The trivet is likely English or American. We think it is c. 1825. It is a very nice antique kitchen item. We warrantee it to be 19th century.
