ANTIQUE BRONZE DAOIST CENSOR INCENSE BURNER C1800S ASIA CHINESEThis is for an antique bronze Daoist censor incense-burner, circa 1800\'s.
Made of bronze, rectangular in form, with slightly curved sides, and four supports. The exterior is finely cast in relief, depicting mythical dragons and mythological phoenix birds, below a band of scrolling lingzhi fungus and plum blossom vines. The four supports are each cast in the form of a mythical creatures head, depicted with fangs. The phoenix and dragon symbolising the yin and yang apects of Daoism, and the lingzhi fungus and plum blossom decoration symbolising rejuvenation and the quest for immortality. This is unmarked, there is no reign mark, although it likely dates from the 1800\'s. The bronze is a good heavy gauge, and has a mud brown tone, with a few small areas of rubbing, showing a yellow tone beneath.The condition is generally excellent, without damage or repair, the bronze has the patina of age.
