The Princess May' pattern RD Number 210800 was registered by Charles Horner on April 18, 1893. The 'Princess May' pattern consists of 3½ to 4 daisies arranged in vertical rows up the body of the thimble.
It is known as the 'Princess May' pattern because a gold version that was presented by Charles Horner to Princess Mary of Teck (known as Princess May) to commemorate her marriage to Prince George, (the future George V), on July 6, 1893 at St James's Palace, in London. This thimble differs from the regular daisy pattern which has 2½ to 3 vertical rows of daisies. The daisies on the 'Princess May' are, of course, smaller than on the regular daisy pattern thimbles.
