From the estate of Mary McGrory, of Lone Jack MIA gorgeous and meticulously crafted 19th century stool or tea table, of circular form with curved concave legs. The wood, densely grained and richly hued, is possibly huali rosewood. Nearly all visible surfaces have been decorated with inlays of auspicious motifs such as double dishes, bats, dragons,phoenixes, and waves.The center is inset with a blue and white porcelain plaque decorated with a dragon emerging from clouds above rolling waves. The painting style of the dragon, as well as the quality of underglaze blue, is very typical of the late Qing.Condition:Overall very excellent antique condition. No flaws to the porcelain inset, and all inlay work and pieces are intact. The wood shows age wear to surface (including one 6 cm age stress crack to edge, other smaller age lines, and degradation of varnish). Structurally the stool is very stable and can be sit upon. NO repairs. [Please examine all photos carefully, as they are part of the condition of Sale 1. We guarantee our items to be authentic and correctly dated.
