Antique English pewter lidded tankard, 1 quart Old English Wine Standard.Circa 1780.
A fine tankard with double dome lid, bulbous drum with fillet on a large flared foot.Double scroll handle with fishtail terminal.Open chair back thumb piece.The hinge to the lid looks to be original with no repair.There are no visible makers marks that I can find.
I have measured the capacity and it is about 33 fl oz; so 1 quart to the Old English Wine Standard.
The tankard has a polished silver grey finish, there is possibly a repair to the handle terminal (see detailed images).
