ANTIQUE ENGLISH VICTORIAN 15K GOLD ENAMEL BOXED SET c1870 BROOCH & EARRINGS

A fabulous set of antique English, solid 15 carat gold (tests thereabouts) brooch & earrings; with beautiful applied gold orb decoration, set with seed pearls in vitreous blue enamel star-shaped settings, the brooch with an empty glass locket to the back (easily accessed) and the earrings with 9 carat screw wires. Of heavy duty hollow construction, typical of the period in which they were made. Housed in their probably original fitted box.

A very attractive, extremely collectable Victorian period set...wearable too!

CONDITION: Generally very good. Earring wires old replacements. Slight signs of wear and some shallow denting (especially to earring backs) commensurate with age & use.Small area of enamel loss. Some denting/tiny splits around pin fittings - perfectly secure. Tarnish will clean up beautifully.

DATE/MARKS: Around 1870/80. Later wires stamped \'9ct\'.

DIMENSIONS:Brooch 40 x 39mm, earring faces 22 x 16 mm(1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
