ANTIQUE ENGLISH VICTORIAN BRASS MR PUNCH NOVELTY VESTA CASE / MATCH SAFE c1880

An unusualnoveltyantique English, brass / yellow metal vesta; modelled in 3d as the Commedia dell\'arte character Mr. Punch or Pulcinella, with a hinge lid and striker to its base.

A very collectable Victorian match safe!

CONDITION: All original andgenerally very good. Some signs of wear commensurate with age & having been used.

DEFECTS: None.

DATE/MARKS: Around 1880. Not marked.

DIMENSIONS:59 mm tall, base 39 x 22 mm (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.

WEIGHT: Approx. 36.5grams.
