AN ENCYCLOPEDIA OF FREEMASONRY is the epic work by legendary Freemason Albert G. Mackey with the intention of supplying those with the materials for acquiring knowledge required to make a Masonic Scholar. Over more than a thirty year period, Mackey undertook the massive task of compiling all the works throughout Masonic history and distilling them into these two volumes to provide the knowledge of the science, the philosophy, and the history of the order. While many encyclopedia books differ in tone due to having many writers, Mackey took this massive undertaking by himself. This version, published in 1925 has been carefully revised, preserving as much as possible Dr. Mackey\'s work untouched, but at the same time to correct statements which later investigations have shown to be unfounded; but all of Dr. Mackey\'s opinions and theories are left unaltered.
