Probably made inBirmingham or Sheffield c1860-1890 - design number = 2059.

A superVictorian Georgian style design very elegant round stand with oval loop handle and four ball-claw feet , four long stem egg cups and four spoons. (the spoons are later additions).

The stand has a fabulous engravedLion rampant armorial crest and a very ancient Welsh Motto \"HEB DDUW HEB D DIM\" roughly translated= \"Without God-Without Anything\".

This ancient old welsh mottooriginates from Denbighshire Wales andrecords go back well before the 1066 Norman Conquest. The lion rampant crest and motto is closely linked to the Denbigh Jones family although it is also linked to Jones, Jonas and Jones-Parryand partly to the Morgan family. The rampant lion and motto HEB DDUW HEB D DIM A DEW ADIGON is also the family crest of the Meredith family and Macara-Meredith family. Well worth further research !!!
