A wonderful antique Georgian English solid gold ring; beautifully made, with ribbed band, ornate carved shoulders and rounded, ribbed head set with a fabulous deep cabochon natural garnet carbuncle of a deep dark and mysterious red.It dates fromthe Georgian period but bears a vintage hallmark due to either being assayed and stamped later or having its band replaced (a very good job if so).It\'sinvery good, fully wearablecondition throughout, with slight wear to the back of the head and a fleabite to the garnet\'s surface. It weighs3.5grams, its head measures12 x 10 mm and its ring size is 6 US / M UK - easily resized one or two sizes if needed. The final photo shows it with a US penny (1 cent) coinfor scale, which measures19mm/ ¾ of an inchdiameter.
